The ultimate ‘sod it, I’m over you’ song.
Altered Images - Don’t Talk to Me About Love (Sat show)
Oh, Clare. I adore this woman and this song is my *life*.

31st October, 1994.
Pillowcases maketh the costume. The hair is far more horrifying - I was growing out a perm.

Whoa, steady on luv.
I’m terribly sorry.
I’ve been on Tumblr for what….. a year or so? And I just abruptly went into using it. Actually, that’s not true. I still don’t know how to use Tumblr. Familiar with most forms of social networking and yet it’s *this* one that confuses me. Why on earth that is, I don’t know. Anyway, I do believe I had a point somewhere, and it was that you don’t know who the fuck I am. Unless of course we’ve met before, in which case there’s a good chance you still don’t know who the fuck I am. It took me a few good years to get to know me, so I can understand the confusion. Here’s the introduction, grab a cushion.
Hi, I’m Becky. Friends have called me that or Kola, Beckeh, Bex, or Boo. And you can too (as long as you don’t shout Boo at me in quiet, peaceful situations). I’m a vague and silly little thing, invisible to the naked eye. Hail from Manchester - the English Manchester, that is. British teeth to match. Film graduate (2:1, thanks for asking). Aspiring actor, cringed as I wrote that. I am not a stage school type. Just a big kid who loves stories. Night owl. Vegetarian. Big lover of British comedy. Also big of hair. An 80s kid who occasionally gets stuck in a time warp. Will happily dance the Time Warp on request. My favourite holiday is Halloween, and you can tell. Look like something that crawled out of a Tim Burton film. When no one’s looking I ponce about the house in fancy dress. Would probably enjoy LARPing. I’m a Scorpio, but there’s a Aquarian moon and a Leo rising in there obviously having an influence. I’m an INFP if you’re into that. I like psychology in general, the human mind and all its foibles. Dreams are fascinating. Magritte’s my favourite artist. Verbally I’m succinct and more of a listener, in writing I never bloody shut up. I contain high levels of sarcasm and flippancy. And I’m yours for a mere bag of candy.
Musically I’m fairly eclectic. I like me some 80s new wave, indie pop, big band, early goth, surf music, 1976 punk, glam rock… I hope this is eclectic enough to live up to my promise? Franz Ferdinand, Garbage, Depeche Mode, Sparks, Pulp and She Wants Revenge are just some of my favourite bands and ABBA but don’t tell anyone. I also write and play some stuff myself. If you can somehow fulfill my dream of being in a new wave band, I unashamedly beg of you to get in touch.
Cinematically I go for some Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, Starstruck, Die Hard, Pulp Fiction, Saw, John Hughes films, Dogma, Rocky Horror, Carry On films, Clockwork Orange, Toys, Tim Burton’s entire career …. wait, this list is insinuating I like my films whimsical with a dash of violence. That’s news to me. Moving on.
Televisually, I adore some Red Dwarf (HUGE fan), Cold Feet, Whose Line, Blackadder, Knightmare, Young Ones, Joking Apart, Father Ted and Family Guy. My knowledge of British comedy helped me to blag my way through a tricky media exam. I mention Joking Apart a lot because this UNFAIRLY OBSCURE sitcom got me a subtitling job and introduced me to some important people in my life. Oh yeah, and the fact that it’s hilarious. Do buy it on DVD. I watch Pocoyo on the quiet. Kids TV can be great. I’m in a confessional mood today.
Celebrity….allly…. Oh fuck it, Outside of my dribbling appraisals of Angelina Jolie (woman’s a goddess. A BLOODY GODDESS) I mostly love British actors. And usually those of a certain vintage. I was a fan of Alan Rickman *before* Harry Potter was even born. And me and Chris Barrie … that love goes back a long, long way. But most importantly, I may hold a little bit of a candle for the criminally underrated Robert Bathurst. I say candle, you’ll notice it’s more of a bushfire.
If you’ve made it this far, congratulations. I could be your friend, or your case study. If you enjoy digital stalking, I’m available on the likes of Twitter and Livejournal under the same mispelt candy-based username. Due to an inability to move beyond the 1990s, I appear to be using Tumblr for a random nostalgia trip at the moment. We’ll see how it develops, but you’re more than welcome to join me. I like you already.
How to do a proper girl band! Fuzzbox in their early punk days: style icons for tiny impressionable kolaqubes. I loved them so much. Had a crush on Maggie.
